The Nest has designed and developed the new web site for Art Month Sydney, a month-long festival celebrating the vibrancy and diversity of Sydney’s thriving contemporary visual arts scene. Now in its second year, the not-for-profit festival runs throughout March and is unique in uniting each of the various elements of Sydney’s art world under one umbrella. More than 80 of Sydney’s leading commercial galleries, artist-run initiatives and other venues will host free artist talks, studio tours, late night openings and art bars.

The Nest worked closely with the Festival team to devise a digital solution that married the key drivers of function and form – that is, to ensure information about the various exhibitions and events was easy to access, whilst allowing the visual impact of the Festival to shine through on the site.

We followed the shape and aesthetic of the brand mark and flowed that through into multiple panels of exhibition images, overlaid with essential info. The home page additionally stacked these panels into a tab structure, which – in combination with the hero carousel – allowed us to effectively place around forty individual image elements on a single page, whilst still maintaining a sense of space and focus. The colour coding throughout also allows the user to navigate according to geographical area or ‘percent’.

Behind the scenes, our solution also delivered Art Month an ad-serving function, full CRM and an email marketing module, allowing them to create and send their own branded EDMs.
