Kaldor Public Arts Projects – Social Media Management
by The Nest on Jun 1, 2010 • 11:56 pm No CommentsIn July 2010, THE NEST was commissioned by ground-breaking contemporary art organisation KALDOR PUBLIC ART PROJECTS to develop their new social media strategy and manage their presence on the social web.
For over 40 years, KALDOR PUBLIC ART PROJECTS has presented influential public art projects across Australia – you may remember Jeff Koon’s giant ‘Puppy’ that sat guarding the entrance to Sydney’s MCA in 1995? Or Bill Viola’s 6m high screenings in 2008 at the beautiful St Saviours Church in Redfern? Or further back, when renowned artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude famously wrapped 2.4km of Sydney coastline with white, woven fibre?
Our work initially focused on establishing and developing KALDOR’s social media presence – generating new channels of content & interactive initiatives for their July 2010 sound-art project by U.S. artist Stephen Vitiello. From then, until February 2011, initiatives included the launch & ongoing management of both their Facebook and Twitter presence; development of two promotional videos; a sound art compilation album project (in collaboration with artists Stephen Vitiello & Lawrence English) and campaigns for Bill Viola, Santiago Sierra and John Baldessari.
Our social media management work was followed in February 2011 with the design and development of a new site, with extensive online archive, for Kaldor Public Art Projects.
